A British man was found dead at Malaga Airport with his trousers and underwear pulled down.

Detectives in Spain’s Costa del Sol have opened a murder probe in relation to the death of Steven Allford.

At this stage, police believe the 51-year-old may have been asphyxiated.

A security guard at the airport discovered his body, which was bound to a bench.

Shocked tourists filmed as his body was placed on a stretcher and taken away as police searched the area.

Detectives are unsure what he was doing at the airport but believe he may have missed a flight home or was sleeping rough.

A source said: ‘There were no obvious signs of violence on his body but the position he was found in suggested foul play.’

Another source said investigators believed he may have been the victim of a sexual assault.

The circumstances of his death are unknown (Picture: Solarpix)

Mr Allford had a hand bound to one end of the bench and his leg to another with cable ties, and his trousers had been pulled down.

He was identified by documents found among belongings in a trolley next to his body.

It is not known where in the UK he is from.

Hasselbaink denies wrongdoing amid impropriety allegations –

The former Netherlands international has come under the spotlight following a newspaper investigation into manager payments, but he insists he is innocent

QPR manager Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink has denied any wrongdoing amid allegations he negotiated a £55,000 fee to serve as a sports ambassador for a company that wanted to sell players to his club.

Hasselbaink was filmed allegedly negotiating a fee with investors in a firm from the Far East that was keen to be involved in the transfer activity at QPR.

Vardy reveals Red Bull and port routine

The claims come after England parted company with manager Sam Allardyce following apparent remarks, made in a video recorded by undercover reporters, in which he offered advice on how to circumvent rules on transfers involving player under third-party ownership.

In a statement released by QPR, Hasselbaink said: "I have today, through my lawyers, responded in full to the accusations levelled against me by The Telegraph.

"I was approached by Mr McGarvey and Ms Newell of The Telegraph purporting to be players' agents. They offered me a fee to make a speech in Singapore. I do not see anything unusual in being offered to be paid to make a speech.

"I did not make any promises in return. I did not ask QPR to purchase any of the players who were said to be managed by Mr McGarvey and Ms Newell and did not and would not recommend the purchase of a player for my personal gain. I deny any accusations of wrongdoing on my part."

QPR confirmed they will be conducting their own investigation but stressed they have confidence in Hasselbaink and the "robust" systems and processes in place at the club.

The Telegraph also alleged that Barnsley assistant Tommy Wright took a £5,000 payment to help bring players into the club.

A Barnsley statement read: "Barnsley FC is aware of allegations made by the Telegraph against Tommy Wright. The club has today suspended Tommy pending an internal investigation into these allegations."

fifa15books – Wenger flattered by England link but focused on Arsenal

The Football Association are searching for a new Three Lions boss following Sam Allardyce’s exit but the Gunners man appears unlikely to consider it this season

Arsene Wenger has reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal after once again being linked with the England job but admitted the links were flattering.

Sam Allardyce's stunning departure on Tuesday, after just one game in charge, leaves the Football Association searching for a new manager, with Under-21 boss Gareth Southgate taking charge of the senior team for their next four matches.

Wenger, who celebrates 20 years at the helm at Arsenal this weekend, has been linked with the position before and his current contract at the Emirates Stadium expires at the end of the season.

Walcott double downs Basel

Speaking after Arsenal's 2-0 win over Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday, the Frenchman admitted to being flattered to be talked about as a potential candidate for the vacancy – but insisted he was only focused on his current employers for now.

Wenger said: "It's a huge surprise what happened – who could have predicted that 48 hours ago? Nobody, but the English game is always full of surprises.

"Look, of course [I'm flattered] but my priority has always been this club. Until the end of this season I am here and completely focused on that.

"I said many times my priority was towards Arsenal Football Club, I will have to assess how well I do until the end of the season."

Arsenal extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a routine victory over Basel at the Emirates Stadium thanks to two Theo Walcott goals.

"I would like to congratulate my team for the quality of football they produced," Wenger told the club's official website. "The first half was top, top class.

"We have to be ambitious but also keep our feet on the ground. We know how we want to play but we still want to get better."

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are locked together on four points at the top of Group A.

Iniesta sets La Liga assist record –

The Barcelona captain was decisive once more at the business end for his club on Wednesday, laying on a goal to achieve one more career landmark

Andres Iniesta's assist for Ivan Rakitic's goal in Barcelona's 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid means he is the only player to have made at least one assist in each of the last 14 La Liga seasons.

The Catalans' provider-in-chief took his all-time assist tally to 83 on Wednesday when he crossed for Rakitic to open the scoring before half time.

His consistent displays laying on the goals for Barcelona's forwards are just one indication of his value to the club which he has helped win eight La Liga titles as well as four Champions League crowns.

Simeone happy with Atletico on fifa15books

El Cholo was delighted to see Angel Correa grab a point for his side in a tough Liga clash, after they fell behind to Ivan Rakitic’s strike before half-time

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone praised his team's second-half performance after earning a 1-1 draw at Barcelona in La Liga on Wednesday.

The visitors fell behind to an Ivan Rakitic goal just before half-time at Camp Nou, but Angel Correa secured a point with his equaliser just after the hour-mark.

Simeone was pleased with what his team produced after the break as they left with a well-earned point.

"For us, it is always difficult to draw anything positive from Camp Nou," he told a news conference.

"In the first half, we defended well, but we could not counter-attack. The goal in the second half made us react.

"In the second half we are much more dangerous. After the draw, we waited for our opportunity with the players that we had to play the spaces."

Simeone also talked up the display of midfielder Thomas Partey, who came on with 17 minutes remaining.

"He gave us power in the midfield to counter better in the last few minutes with [Fernando] Torres, [Antoine] Griezmann and Correa."

The result sees Atletico sitting fourth in the table, four points adrift of league leaders and city rivals Real Madrid.

fifa15books | Christian Pulisic contract not an issue – Borussia Dortmund director Zorc

ESPN FC’s Ross Dyer breaks down all the latest news of American footballers abroad, with Christian Pulisic headlining.
ESPN FC’s Taylor Twellman explains why he believes Christian Pulisic’s situation at Borussia Dortmund is unique.
As Christian Pulisic continues his fine form for the U.S., Jurgen Klinsmann explains his role with the team.
FC’s Raphael Honigstein gives his take on whether or not Dortmund and U.S. international Christian Pulisic will stay or go.

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has said extending Christian Pulisic’s contract is “not an issue right now.”

Pulisic is under contract until 2019 rather than 2018 as previously reported, a source told ESPN FC. He had interested clubs including Liverpool in the summer window.

Speaking to German magazine kicker on Monday, Zorc said BVB were not currently working on a contract extension, adding: “That’s not an issue right now.”

On Saturday, Pulisic said he was “just focusing on my season… I don’t personally deal with negotiations.”

The United States international midfielder started in Dortmund’s 6-0 wins at Legia Warsaw in the Champions League in midweek and against Darmstadt in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

He became BVB’s youngest ever player in the Champions League on Wednesday and Zorc added: “He has only just turned 18.

“He can be delighted to have made his debut in the Champions League aged 17 and to have set up a goal there as well as having scored and set up goals in the Bundesliga.”

Midfielder Sebastian Rode, speaking after the Darmstadt match, told reporters that Pulisic “has unbelievable potential.”

fifa15books – Golden Joystick Awards nominate Overwatch in 8 categories

The Golden Joystick awards are the oldest, and most prestigious, gaming awards. Every year fans can vote on what game should win in all seperate categories.

Just like the Oscars there are many categories for the Golden Joystick Awards. And Overwatch has been nominated in many categories, in its first year of existence. Overwatch has been nominated in the the following categories:

  • Best Original Game
  • Best Visual Design
  • Best Audio Design
  • Best Multiplayer Game
  • Best Gaming Moment
  • Game of the Year
  • PC Game of the Year
  • Competitive Game of the Year

Well, Overwatch has racked up a plethora of nominations. But what do some of these actually mean?

Comepetitive Game of the Year is the game that did the most for eSports that year. The game that made the most improvements or gained the largest following. This can be the game that you most enjoyed, or a logical decision based on what game is most important. The final choice is done by voting so make sure you get your voice heard. It is subjective, vote your heart.

The Best Original Game is the game that had the most innovations. The one that was most original, that copied the least. Any game that completely changed a genre is perfect for this category. Or even better, a game that invented a genre. There are many games in this category this year. Overwatch, No Man’s Sky, Firewatch, The Division, Furi, the list goes on.

Best Audio Design is the game that you could most easily play with just headphones and no monitor. While every game would be impossible without a screen, some games would be easier than others. Overwatch would be one of the easiest. But then there is also design beyond just giving you information. A game also needs to sound good. And Overwatch brings you information, but also sounds wonderful. There is a lot of chaos, but chaos is sometimes beautiful. Sound is intended to immerse you fully in the game. If you play with speakers I would highly suggest putting on headphones before you cast your vote. They are a literal game changer.

If you want to cast your vote and make your voice heard then go here and choose your categories and games. Happy voting!

fifa15books – Three familiar names, one surprise package

That Europe has generally produced the world’s best beach soccer teams for over a decade now may no longer come as much of a surprise to fans. Indeed, four of the eight FIFA Beach Soccer World Cups played to date have been won by European nations (Russia twice, France and Portugal) and four runners-up have also come from the ‘old continent’ (although no one country has been as successful as four-time winners Brazil).

Europe’s overall dominance therefore provided the backdrop to the efforts of the 28 teams that competed in the Italian resort of Jesolo between 2 and 11 September for the four European slots at the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017. Following the action, Italy, Switzerland and reigning world champions Portugal, three of the game’s heavyweights, could celebrate having booked their tickets to the Caribbean, with the fourth spot going to an altogether less-fancied side. Poland defied all expectations to not only qualify for the showpiece event but also to actually win the qualification tournament itself.

Russia, World Cup winners in 2011 and 2013, could only finish fifth and will consequently be spectators when the tournament rolls around next April and May. Azerbaijan finished eighth but were one of the more positive stories to emerge from qualifying, but 2005 World Cup winners France (seventh) and 2011 runners-up Spain (ninth) performed somewhat below expectations.

Poland wasted no time in announcing their intent, meanwhile, winning seven of their eight matches and playing particularly impressively in beating Russia 5-3. That was followed up by an extra-time 3-2 win over Italy in the semi-finals and a comprehensive 6-3 triumph against the Swiss in the final. Szymon Gasinski was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament, while Boguslaw Saganowski took the award for Player of the Tournament (MVP). Only the top goalscorer award was not won by a Poland player, with Switzerland’s Dejan Stankovic claiming that honour after firing his country to a fourth World Cup (the Swiss competed in 2009, 2011 and 2015 but missed out in 2013).

Madjer reaches historic milestone
World champions and favourites Portugal appeared unstoppable for much of qualification in Jesolo. They were comfortably the best attacking side of the 28 teams – after only four matches their goal difference read 42:1 – but in the semi-finals they came up against a seemingly immovable object in Switzerland and succumbed to a 3-1 loss, eventually finishing third.

Despite that disappointment, however, there was cause for celebration for superstar forward Madjer, who netted his 1000th goal for Portugal in their match against England. “It was an unbelievable moment, something historic, and not just for me but for everyone who’s helped me achieve that target,” said the 39-year-old.

The hosts also delivered an overall performance to be proud of, harnessing the enthusiasm shown by the crowd to march into the semi-finals unbeaten, before coming unstuck against the eventual winners.

At present only two countries – host nation Bahamas and 2015 World Cup runners-up Tahiti – have been confirmed to compete alongside the four countries from Europe between 27 April and 7 May next year. A further ten teams will qualify for the tournament in the coming months, before the official group stage draw is made on 28 February.

fifa15books | A new season brings new rewards and big changes to grand master leagues

Blizzard has listened to player feedback and both promotion / demotion matches and the grand master player pool has been changed.

Official blog post

Blizzard developers have been hard at work refining ranked played, and the first season, while having its share of problems, has been leaps and bounds better than the original “Rank-1-and-plateau” system. Season 2 starts the week of September 12, and with it comes a host of new rewards and changes to improve the validity and competitive nature of the season.

The rewards

The Elemental Lion mount is the 2nd in the elemental mount series and is the feline counter-part to our beloved elemental wolf. New portraits have also been added, and with the Grand Master level being capped to only 200 people down from 500, the highest tier of this portrait will be one of the hardest in game achievements to unlock.

Changes to promotion / demotion ranks

The biggest changes to ranked point adjustment is the removal of the flat 250 adjustment after winning a promotion match or losing a demotion match. It was especially discouraging to lose so many points during an unlucky demotion match, so this change is pure quality of life improvement that players should enjoy.

Points will now carry over once you’re are promoted or demoted, another common sense decision that feels intuitive, as there never really was a reason that points would disappear once you gain a new rank. Important to note, however, that demotion matches will not “store” lost ranked points and carry over.

Season 2 ends on the week of December 12th, so if these rewards entice you, better start playing the PTR to get used to the new patch.
